They are generally posted at the entrance to dojo or at the &#8220;front&#8221; of the dojo (shomen) and outline behaviour expected and disallowed. The &#8220;dojo kun&#8221; can best be described as \u201ca verbal affirmation\u201d of certain principles or truths. You must make a point to learn your dojo&#8217;s creed as soon as possible and when reciting it always try and speak it in unison with the other students, but never so loudly that your own voice stands out from all the rest. \u00a0The dojo kun is\u00a0recited at the end of a class.<\/p>\n<p>Tsuruoka NL Dojo Kun is recited at the end of class, and is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seek Perfection of Character<\/li>\n<li>Endeavour<\/li>\n<li>Be Faithful<\/li>\n<li>Respect Others<\/li>\n<li>Refrain\u00a0from Violent Behaviour<\/li>\n<li>The Ultimate Aim\u00a0of the art of Karate lies not in victory nor defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The additional Tsuruoka Organization mandate for senior classes is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We the members of Tsuruoka Karate Organization, shall endeavor to promote with guidance, openness and cooperation, the development of Tsuruoka Karate-Do, which embodies the spirit and methodologies of its founder, Masami Tsuruoka.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dojo kun is a Japanese martial arts term literally meaning (training hall) rules.
