7th Commonwealth Karate Championships

The 7th Commonwealth Karate Championships were held this past weekend (October 11-14, 2013)  in Quebec City, Quebec.  The Commonwealth Karate Championship is an international event sanctioned by the Commonwealth Karate Federation. It is part of various endeavours aimed at achieving inclusion of karate in the official program of the Commonwealth Games. Karate federations from Commonwealth countries are invited to send their National teams and other athletes to participate in this high-level tournament, provided they are members in good standing of the World Karate Federation and the Commonwealth Karate Federation.

Tsuruoka NL sent two competitors to the competition.  Andrew Au and Samantha Au both represented our club, and we would like to extend out congrats to both members for a great performance.  Samantha was awarded a silver medal in individual kata, and Andrew placed fifth in his individual kata division.  Way to go!
